About Me

Gabrielle Wolk-Phillips, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

My name is Dr. Gabrielle Wolk and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) with a concentration in Health Psychology in 2015 from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I invite you to explore my website and to read about my professional experiences and interests below, and the My Approach page, to get a better understanding of how we may be a good fit to work together in therapy.

Past and Current Experiences

Since earning my Psy.D. I have primarily worked in long term care communities with individuals who are experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, substance use disorders, other severe and chronic mental illness, and stress related to adjustment to aging, medical conditions, and disabilities. I am also a therapist at a nonprofit center that serves people living with cancer, as well as their loved ones. In this work I have gained even more specialized experience working with individuals who are adjusting to their own or a loved one’s cancer diagnosis, facing their own or their loved one’s terminal illness, or those grieving the loss of a loved one.

New Moon Counseling - A New Phase in My Career

New Moon Counseling represents a new phase in my career. This practice is dedicated to honing in on my existing professional strengths and interests, while also growing into other areas based on my expanding personal interests. Aside from the previously described mental health issues I support in therapy, I am also offering harm reduction and integration work with individuals who are currently working with, or considering the use of, psychedelic medicines. My hope is to one day also be able to offer psychedelic-assisted therapy assuming it will become legal in the near future.

In December of 2021 I completed my training and earned a certificate through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) MDMA-Assisted Therapy training program. I am still awaiting opportunities to gain my supervised experience providing MDMA-Assisted Therapy when FDA trials are expanded and/or the modality becomes legalized. However, through the program I learned skills in supporting individuals in preparing for and integrating therapeutic psychedelic experiences.

I am currently also serving as a volunteer for Fireside Project, a peer support hotline for supporting individuals who are experiencing a psychedelic journey in the moment or working on integration after the experience.

Considering my overall experiences and interests in the field of mental health, I would summarize that my specialties are as follows:
  • General life adjustments, changes, and transitions
  • Living with Cancer or Chronic Illness
  • Grief/loss/bereavement
  • Aging
  • Death and dying
  • Meaning in life
  • Preparation/Harm Reduction for, and Integration of, Psychedelic experiences
