My Approach

The name of my practice is inspired by my belief in the similarities between life and the phases of the moon. Like the moon, no phase in life lasts forever, no matter if it is the best or the worst of times. People often seek therapy because of distress and uncertainty during major shifts in phases of their lives. My approach as a therapist is to support my clients through these transitions by helping them mourn the losses and honor the lessons of the past phase, while also assisting them in learning to acknowledge and embrace the gains and opportunities in the new phase.

Like the moon cycle, change does not happen overnight, but rather in phases, and sometimes we even cycle through phases of change, just like the moon. The moon does not need to be reminded to move to the next phase, it does so naturally. I believe that as humans we also have what can be referred to as an inner healing intelligence that has an inclination to move us toward healing. That being said, sometimes challenges get in our way and it is difficult to see any way around them on our own. This phase of uncertainty about how to move forward is a beneficial time to seek therapy; a time when you know you want to make a change, but you are not sure how to go about it. My approach is to sit alongside my clients during this uncertain time and support them in removing challenges or patterns that no longer serve them in their life and are getting in the way of their healing, and assisting them in incorporating resources in their life that enhance healing. In this way, I work together with my clients in moving them through to the next phase.

My approach works best with those who have a spiritual inclination and a willingness to see past what is right in front of them. Clients that get the most out of our work together are not seeking my direct advice or answers, and are not looking for me to enter our sessions with an agenda. Rather, I work collaboratively with my clients. I believe it is important to make clear from the beginning that though I have a doctorate level of training and experience working with a wide range of clinical populations, I do not consider myself an expert of your life. Instead I consider you the expert - the one who understands best how you will heal. I am here to support you in discovering what that means for you. If the introduction to my approach resonates with you, please take the first step and reach out to me. I look forward to working together!
